Lex arrives at a local village that is hostile to foreign creatures, having dealt with several other beasts in the past. Lex discovers that Codex is being transported to Dracula's Castle, and jumps into the book to rescue him. Lex returns to The Great Library after the events of Book 2, where Queen Scheherazade gave him the Scimitar of Justice, the powerful weapon Codex was seeking.
